Tomáš Borovička (Head of the Data Science Lab)

Tomas Borovicka is a PhD candidate and researcher with the Faculty of Information Technology at the Czech Technical University in Prague. Tomas obtained his Bachelor degree at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Master degree at the Faculty of Information Technology. His scope is Artificial Intelligence and his research explores areas of machine learning and data mining; of late, his main focus has been semi-supervised learning and active learning. Furthermore, Tomas has over seven years experience with software development, following his prior employment as a Software Engineer. Currently he holds the position of Research and Data Scientist in Lely Industries, a Dutch company focused on dairy robotic farming and innovations in agriculture. His passion lies in the application of latest research results and approaches in practice.

Radim Špetlík

Radim Špetlík is a bachelor student of the Faculty of Information Technologies at the Czech Technical University. Moreover, in 2014 he graduated from Charles University with a bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and Humanities. His achievements so far stand evidence to his excellence. He won the first place in the Artificial Intelligence Fundamentals course competition in 2013/2014 focused on Genetic Algorithm and he is also a member of the winning team of the ECAI 2014 Angry Birds AI Competition. His interests are Artificial Intelligence & machine learning.

Karel Rymeš

Karel Rymeš is a bachelor student at the Faculty of Information Technology at the Czech Technical University in Prague. Karel will enter his second year of study in September 2014. He is an enthusiastic apprentice and has been a member of the winning team of the ECAI 2014 Angry Birds AI Competition. His main interest lies in the sphere of Artificial Intelligence; his other interests include, programming C/C++, English, cycling and running.

Pavel Kordík

Pavel Kordík works as an assistant professor at the Department of Computer Science, FIT, Czech Technical University in Prague, where he obtained his master's and Ph.D. degree in 2003 and 2007, respectively. He is the co-author of more than 40 publications. He coordinated the Automated Knowledge Extraction research project in 2006-2009. Recently, he co-founded the Modgen startup company focusing on predictive models and recommender systems. His research interests are data mining, knowledge extraction, inductive models, neural networks, evolutionary computing, optimization methods, nature inspired continuous optimization, visualization of black-box behaviour and ensemble techniques and meta-learning.

Jan Motl

Jan Motl, an enthusiast into relational machine learning, is an PhD student. Jan's focus, beyond relational machine learning, is into data preprocessing, image processing and text mining. Outside of academic field, Jan works as an independent consultant. Jan's experience include computation of propensity to buy (PtB) for three banks; customer lifetime value (CLV) for a telecomunication company; fraud detection for an airline company and an international financial company; propensity to default (PtD) for a bank. Jan is fluent in Java, R, SQL and SAS. In the free time he is a rock climber.

Tomáš Šabata

Tomáš is a master student at the Faculty of Information Technology at the Czech Technical University in Prague where he also obtained his Bachelor degree. A field of his study was theoretical computer science. While studying Bachelor degree he became fascinated by machine learning algorithms, data mining and artificial intelligence. Tomáš is also interested in Android development, Raspberry Pi development or mathematics. In Datalab he works on the project of behavior modelling. In free time he rides a motorcycle, sports and travels.

Jakub Švehla

Jakub Svehla is a Master’s student of the Faculty of Information Technology at the Czech Technical University in Prague. He also studied (as an exchange student) one year at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology where he specialized in data mining and computer vision. His main interests are machine learning and data mining. Besides computer science, his main hobbies are traveling and sports.

Tomáš Pajurek

Tomáš is a bachelor student at the Faculty of Information Technology at the Czech Technical University in Prague. His focus lies on software engineering, software architecture and computer science. Tomáš is also interested in cloud computing and computer security. In Datalab, he worked / is workinng on the projects involving design and construction of the cloud solutions and the multi-agent systems. He has also almost 5 years of experience in all phases of small scale web development.

Jan Lukány

Jan Lukány is a bachelor student at the Faculty of Information Technology at the Czech Technical University in Prague. He is interested in artificial intelligence and machine learning. He won the first place in the Semester competition 'Minimum vertex cover using genetic algorithm' of the Artificial Intelligence Fundamentals course in 2015. His hobbies are concert and sport photography and playing badminton.

Magda Friedjungová

Magda Friedjungová is a PhD student at FIT, CTU in Prague. Magda's focus is on transfer learning methods and data preprocessing for predictive modeling. She is also interested in educational data mining, mainly in students' performance predictions. Outside of the academic field, Magda works as a data architect and analyst for the university data warehouse and is enthusiastic about business intelligence. In her free time she participates on the development of RepRap 3D printers in the faculty lab.

Standa Kuznetsov

Standa Kuznetsov joined the group in 2013 as a Ph.D. student at Department of Software Engineering, Faculty of Information Technology, CTU in Prague. His research is focused on recommender systems, ontology, knowledge graphs, and business intelligence.
